Beyonce accepts the BET Humanitarian Award

Recommended Posts

I love a lot of her songs but i think she likely does deserve this. I remember when America hated her for her Black Panther tribute and that was so pre-BLM. Perhaps she could speak out a little more for causes she "cared" about years ago that are now emerging. She's not using her voice so proactively now when the people and her followers need it. So perhaps it isn't deserved.

um  :umwtf:

this is a show about BLACK entertainment and BLACK art. Beyonce is a BLACK artist who has done a LOT for the community in recent years if any of you have paid attention. @OnlyBeyonce is correct, she is a huge staple in the entertainment industry despite all bias that has come her way since the superbowl.

If you really want to argue that Beyonce doesn't deserve this award after breaking several barriers amidst her position as a black woman, amidst several efforts at raising awareness for her community, then I suggest you take a look at Britney at the GLAAD awards. Does she deserve it? Absolutely. However,  imagine if I said "the most she has done is charity/fundraisers, kissing a girl on stage when it was less accepted, and normalizing the persistence of gay people in media".  You guys would throw a fit and talk about how that's a lot.

Why is it different when Beyonce is accepting an award on behalf of her community? :umok: That being said, BET is also owned by a white parent company so there's lots to unpack here.

:well: Points have been made

The Black Lives Matter movement didn't just start this year. It's been happening since 2013. Beyonce performed that Superbowl three years into the movement.

i think she helped push it  and i just remember people calling her the worst names for it but she was standing up for something when it wasn't a popular thing to do so at the time it what i mean to say.

She’s so beautiful. :omg: Quick question:
Am I going to hell only because I hate Beyonce for no reason and everytime I get the chance I slander her name?

BET honored Beyonce with their Humanitarian Award for her philanthropy work, including the “Formation Scholars” initiative, BeyGood4Burundi partnership with UNICEF, and her BeyGOOD’s Black Business Fund.

The broadcast went down live on BET/CBS on Sunday, June 28 at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Chance the Rapper and the late Nipsey Hussle are past receipts of the award.

“I want to dedicate this award to all of my brothers out there, all of my sisters out there inspiring me, marching and fighting for change. Your voices are being heard and you’re proving to our ancestors that their struggles were not in vain. Now we have one more thing we need to do to walk in our true power, and that is to vote,” Beyonce said.

“I’m encouraging you to continue to take action, continue to change and dismantle a racist and unequal system,” she said. “There are people banking on us staying at home during local elections and primaries happening in states across the country. We have to vote like our life depends on it, because it does.”

Thoughts?

Why did they feel the need to dim the image so much, to the point that her eye whites are dark grey?  Oooh it’s time make sure she doesn’t like like she may have bleached her skin when appearing on BET accepting a humanitarian award for uplifting black people.  Got it. I did a color correction to make the image the correct brightness where her eye whites are normal, and yea she looks like a white woman.  Wouldn’t have been a good look for them I guess.

She looks gorgeous. But can someone give this woman an acting/speaking class? She’s such a great singer, but every time I hear her “act” or just give a speech she sounds like she’s a robot reading from prompter.

I guess they give 'humanitarian' awards to anyone these days just like they give Nobel Peace Prizes like candy now lol.   The true humanitarians are those out there doing good without any need for attention or fame for doing something.
