Britney Spears has been admitted to a mental health facility ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected to Britney tell TMZ she has been distraught over her dad's illness ... something we're told is quite serious and not getting better.

Jamie Spears has now had 2 surgeries to correct major issues with his intestines and colon.  The second surgery was recent but he's been suffering complications.  Jamie's issues started late last year after his colon spontaneously ruptured.  

As you know, Britney put her Vegas residency on hold to care for her dad, and we're told she's been having a really hard time.  Britney posted a photo with the words, "Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit" along with the caption, "We all need to take a little time for a little 'me time.'"

Our sources say Britney checked herself into the facility about a week ago where she will live for 30 days.

As TMZ reported, Britney has been under a conservatorship since 2008 for issues relating to bipolarity.

As for how her dad's illness is affecting her ... remember, Jamie saved Britney's life by stepping in back in 2007 when he said he feared he would wake up one morning and get a call from the coroner.

I hate this because I don't trust her team at all. We've been hearing about the c-ship possibly ending and Britney wanting to take back her life and now this?

If Britney really wanted this, then I'm proud of her. But I don't believe that her team didn't force this.

This is a good thing. We’ve been saying ever since last summer something hasn’t been quite right, now she’s working on her issues and getting help which takes a lot of strength. I wish her the best.

I feel her team got wind that TMZ learned about it and was going to post about it (I've seen the Kardashians when TMZ called them and told them they were going to post something about Kylie being pregnant because they heard about it, something like that..) so when TMZ called and said they were going to post about Britney being in the mental health clinic, her team decided to post about it first so that it would soften the blow of the news

Maybe the facility thing can be true, but the story wasnt leaked by anyone who works with/for Britney obviously

What If the post on Instagram is really to pretend she is fine and just living her life while she is indeed taking Care of her mental Health?

Its weird how JLS who lives and is pretty close to Jamie is posting so much **** on Instagram but Britney is nowhere to be seen. Maybe its part of her teams act to pretend shes just on a hiatus while everyone else is living life normally.

Secondly. There have been too many questions asked about where she is so team Britney must’ve felt forced to admit what’s really going on. Maybe a tabloid was about to out her whereabouts so her team got tmz to break the story as a way to get in front of the truth. I’ll sure there will be more slanted spin from her PR team.?

Lastly. I loathe how her team handles things. But since so many of the fans still don’t get it I guess they realize they can tweet anything to make it sound like Britney and they’ll believe because many of you do. I don’t believe that Britney’s in a mental health facility because of what her dad is going through. Be real with people, team Britney, for once. Britney is mentally ill. There should be no shame whatsoever in admitting this. She was a wreck on last summers tour. Don’t lay the blame on her checking into treatment solely on her dad’s health.

What I Hope happens next is that Britney finally gets the help she’s been in need of for so many years. If her team can give Jamie time to recover from his illness then give the same grace and time to Britney too!! Best wishes to Britney and her dad.  ❤️❤️
