  1. 6.4 million people tuned in to watch the VMAs Sunday night. The show was broadcast live on MTV and the 12 other ViacomCBS brands. This year's show saw only a 5% dip in overall viewership compared to 2019. According to a new report from Variety, the show generated 41.1 million impressions on social media. It was the second-most socialed event of the year (just 7% behind the Super Bowl). There's a lot of figures floating around regarding last year's ratings. Some sites report last year's VMAs had 4.9 million. Which would mean this year's smashed last year's. This year's show felt miles better than last year's. Super here for this virtual format. 2. One of Lady Gaga's biggest fansites, Lady Gaga Now, was destroyed by hackers right before the VMAs started . "They took the server down while everyone was waiting for the VMAs to start; but besides that they managed to ruin the server's operating system," the owner Mateo wrote in a message. "Unfortunately this damage caused a huge loss of data, which led to the inevitable shut down of the platform." "I don't know if I will ever recover from this," they continued. 3. Lady Gaga says she's wearing masks before it became a thing, but this is one of her most as usual, highly conceded comment's Masks and it's use in pop music was always a thing, as it's very dramatic and theatrical. I used my girl Madonna, as a prime example, that it was always a thing, before Gaga claimed it wasn't mainstream. It's the most arrogant thing to say When, she's not the only to use it. And like I said countless others far from Madonna used it. But Gaga needs to retract it, cos to me it's like she's using the pandemic into making it a fashion trend.
  4. Lady Gaga is the first-ever recipient of the MTV VMA Tricon award (“global music superstar, award-winning actor, fashion trailblazer, [and] devoted activist,” which is technically four things). “This is so cool. This means a lot to me,” Gaga said. “It means more to me than you probably even realize. I’ve been making music since I was a little girl and even though I had really, really big dreams I really never could have imagined that I would be given an award like this that honored me for so many of my passions.” “Everyone at home is their own form of a Tricon,” she continued. “I wish for you to think, right now, of three things that define who you are, and take a moment to reward yourself for your bravery. This has not been an easy year for a lot of people, but what I see in the world is a massive triumph of courage.” “I also hope that people at home who have big dreams, I hope they see me here today accepting this award and know how grateful I am. I want you to know that you can do this too. Just because we’re separated right now and culture may feel less alive in some ways, I know a renaissance is coming and the wrath of pop culture will inspire you and the rage of art will empower you as it responds to hardship with its generosity and love.” Watch below: Related:
  5. Lady Gaga stole the show! Mother Monster kicked off her performance at the VMAs with the Chromatica II interlude, which directly into fan-favorite Chromatica track "911." From there, Gaga slipped into a new outfit to perform "Rain On Me," which won Best Collaboration and Song of the Year earlier in the night. Before finishing off her set with a ballad rendition of "Stupid Love" that blasted into a dance version. EPIC! Thoughts, Exhale?! Related:
  6. So I was going through my playlists and one of them is "Songs That Deserved More" and thought it would be interesting to see your thoughts. I chose a song from each artist mentioned, but of course they have other songs that did not deserve to flop or should've been more successful than they were. Although there are a couple of artists on here I'm not the most fond of anymore I can't deny that these aren't bops and deserved more. 1) Britney Spears - Slumber Party Peak: #86 USA Highest Peak: #1 US Dance Club Songs Fun Fact: The song is Britney's 36th Billboard Hot 100 entry 2) Christina Aguilera - Your Body Peak: #34 USA Highest Peak: #1 US Dance Club Songs Fun Fact: Music video directed by longtime Beyonce collaborator Melina Matsoukas 3. 7. On August 28, 2011 the VMA's were held at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Britney Spears received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award for her influence and impact in music. The award was presented by Lady Gaga in her character of Jo Calderone, giving an introductory speech which was followed by a medley performance by a group of girl dancers, featuring Britney's most iconic outfits throughout her music video career. Britney and Gaga had a moment of silence onstage, where they exchanged looks while making the audience believe they were gonna kiss (as a reference to Britney and Madonna's kiss in 2003) only for Britney to interrupt saying she "had done that already" Together they proceeded to introduce Beyoncé's performance That night, Britney also won Best Pop Video for Till the World Ends The same video was also nominated for Best Choreography, but lost to Beyoncé's Run the World (Girls).
  8. Our queens did that! Gaga is NOT playing around with Miss Rona. Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's "Rain On Me" won Best Collaboration and Song of the Year. Gaga also won Artist of the Year. "Ariana and I really connected through this song," she said. "Me and Ariana are truly soul sisters. Girl this is for us. We've both been through some s**t together." "We turned our tears, that felt like endless rainfall, into diamonds. I will treasure those diamonds with you forever honey." Watch below: Related:

  10. Lady Gaga showed off her bruised and swollen knees. She's entrenched in rehearsals for her performance of "Rain On Me" with Ariana Grande at the VMAs on Sunday. In before y'all say BRITNEY INVENTED KNEES Related:
  11. Many of you know about the scrapped album “Artpop Act II”. For those who don’t know, here’s a video about it: Brooklyn Nights could’ve been on that album and I think that if it was a first single of the scrapped album, it could’ve been a hit, even maybe a #1 hit. Also Princess Die is rumoured to be on the album. Do you think that Artpop Act II could’ve been more successful than the original Artpop if it was released. Also in sales and charts, how do you think it would’ve done.
  12. I recently had a conversation with my friend who is a Taylor stan about Gaga vs Taylor Swift discography. I am an admitted Gaga Stan since 2009 but I was able to say I prefer to listen to Taylor's discography more often. I find Taylor's discography more listenable from start to finish, melodically, etc. It is an easier listen. There are a few Gaga albums that are largely unlistenable to me (some of Artpop & Joanne), but there are some major Gaga tracks that go much "further" on impact than anything Taylor has ever put out, such as Bad Romance, Edge of Glory, Rain on Me, Shallow, etc etc etc, that make up for this shortcoming. Though I mostly prefer Taylor's discography as a whole, I am still a Gaga over Taylor stan because of Gaga's vocal ability, constant advocacy for LGBTQIA+ for her entire career, personality, strong and provocative songwriting, etc. I believe Gaga has built a much stronger legacy/impact than Taylor as of now. What do you think? Is there even a comparison to be had between the two? What is Taylor's legacy vs Gaga?
  13. Welcome to Round Four If you haven't been paying attention or participating in the last two rounds this is going to be confusing but will do my best to summarize everything so far. 1. First round dealt with debut singles - Promotional singles and/or singles for an artists persona (Hannah Montana, Lizzie McGuire), Christmas albums, foreign language albums were all skipped. I used Wikipedia's list for debut singles as reference. 2. Second round dealt with NEXT leading singles NOT leading singles from their second albums as some people mistook. Artists like Beyoncé and Ariana Grande had debut singles that were not on their debut albums so that's why their picks seem like they're an album behind. This was all explained, but some people don't bother to read before criticizing. 3. Third round asked you to vote for favorite THIRD leading single. For artists like Britney, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Whitney Houston, etc this was the third leading single from their third albums but for other artists it was their second album again because their debut singles were solo efforts that didn't make the debut album. 4. I'll own up that I forgot about 7 Things by Miley hence why her picks seem advanced. 5. I'm going to follow Wikipedia's albums discography for major studio releases. I'll be leaving out EP's/Other major releases moving forward to be more cohesive with these past three rounds. 6. I went with North American leading singles because they're the ones I'm most familiar with. So I know that some of these picks were released concurrently with other singles in different markets. 7. Lastly, I'm not an expert and/or familiar with some of these artists discographies and if it were up to me I wouldn't include them and am including them for others to vote on. Again, if you disagree with my picks then message me and I'll fix it. If you don't like the poll pick and go or don't vote at all. Thanks! Favorite Fourth Leading Single: Me Against The Music - Britney Spears (another obvious choice) Second Favorite: Applause - Lady Gaga
  14. Check out new outtakes from the Stupid Love video:
  15. Mother Monster changes the face of pop music with her sophomore album. This Day In Pop is a reoccurring piece, where BreatheHeavy examines a monumental anniversary in pop music. Whether it be a blockbuster release, game-changing performance, live mishap, or something in between, we’re here to dig through the archives and highlight some of the biggest moments in pop music history. Lady Gaga released Born This Way on May 23, 2011. Back in late 2010, Lady Gaga told a crowd of screaming fans in Gdsank, Poland that her second studio album, Born This Way, would be “the greatest album
  16. The Met Gala in 2019 was one for the books. Lady Gaga was a bit of an exhibitionist when she made her grand appearance. She continually stripped off her clothing while hamming it up for the cameras. It was pretty epic and deserves a day on Exhale's Pop Anniversaries calendar.

This round says goodbye to Ava Max & says hello to Billie Eilish Shakira will come in at round three THIS ROUND IS HARD because it has a LOT of songs I love, but my vote again goes for the iconic Oops!...I Did It Again by Britney Spears and my second favorite is Dirrty by Christina Aguilera *You guys can pick a second favorite this round https://www.breatheheavy.com/exhale/index.php?/forums/topic/782968-what-is-your-favorite-debut-single-female-edition/
  18. In 2012 Lady Gaga, embarked on her most extravagant tour The Born this way Ball. It covered all markets except Antarctica. While it was a huge commercial success. One continent is widely known to be a huge commercial and marketing disaster. The born this way Ball to date is Gaga's only tour to touch south America. But it was a disaster as she wasn't selling out as they expected.. To make matters worse. Madonna announced her MDNA tour in south America for December including markets she never toured like Colombia, and other areas that never saw her. Unlike Gaga her commercial success was instant as she sold out upon tickets going on sale. It got worse when Gaga and her team tried to rush ticket sales with 6 ticket's for the price of 1 tickets. The media dragged this stunt. And it backfired.. None of the shows was sold out. But live nation did another move that got her worse press. They used the MDNA tour stage to house her castle. Let's just say the media had another hey day when this revelation happened. Gaga's team upon arriving to Buenos Aires, had a major meeting with the Latin American division of Universal. According to the press, she was told, she was insane thinking she could do a stadium tour knowing damn well, she's in Madonna territory. If it wasn't for interscope intervening. Universal Latin America was actually close to canceling the south American leg of the tour. But interscope agreed beginning with Artpop they will quietly release her music, with no announcement or promotion. Live Nation even agreed she Will never tour this region. Even her team agreed, this is a market that she lost and isn't marketable at all.
  19. Hey Exhale! Because it's a slow weekend I'm wondering what your favorite debut single is of the 20 mentioned ladies: Britney Spears , Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Ariana Grande, Kesha, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Dua Lipa, Ava Max, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift , Hilary Duff, and Meghan Trainor. Sorry I was limited to 20 choices and I think these all either have solid debuts or are icons I couldn't leave out. Was going to make it multiple choice but what's the fun in that? Obviously my pick is Britney and Baby One More Time AKA the best debut single of all-time Welcome to the first round. Favorite 2nd Album leading single coming next. This is the female edition with a male and group edition coming soon
  20. In 2016, word was a huge Madonna theatrical biopic was in the work. Only to be legally stopped by Madonna herself.. Fast forward to 2020. Madonna is working on the biopic script with none other Than Diablo Cody who wrote jagged little pill and of course Juno. Madonna said the only way a biopic would be allowed to happen was if she was in control of the film and the story. Many fans said. The only perfect cast to play Madonna is none other than Lady Gaga. Saying it's the ultimate role that was made for her. But as one fan pointed out. Madonna at 61 is a lot skinnier than Gaga, so Gaga would have to lose at least 59 or 60 pounds to get the part, plus fix her cheek bones and other stuff. But hey since day one she was more attached to Madonna by the mainstream media than any other female, so really it's the ultimate role for her, play the woman she was so blatantly accused of copying.
  21. Lady Gaga's giving the gays everything they want. She launched Gaga Radio on Apple Music. Every Friday on her brand new Gaga Radio show on Apple Music, she honors the larger-than-life genre of dance music by speaking with the DJs, divas, and producers who inspired her and who helped bring Chromatica to life. And each episode will include an exclusive DJ mix from one of Gaga's guests. It's a celebration of dance music when we need it most. "The last few weeks I've been figuring out different ways at home that I can be of service to what I would call the singular global community, one that I believe to be kind in nature, one that I believe to be very special to my heart and I believe to the hearts of many," Gaga said. "And so I've been thinking of all the ways that I can be someone that contributes to the society and the world. I'm super thrilled, excited to have this show and this opportunity to play an incredible mix of music every week..." On the first episode airing this Friday, August 7, Gaga catches up with friend and Chromatica executive producer, BloodPop®. The two talk about the making of the album and the challenges that came along with it including depression and self doubt. Through it all, gratitude and friendship are what made Chromatica possible. Below is a little teaser from the interview: Lady Gaga: What's your favorite memory on making Chromatica with me? Even though I feel like we're still making it BloodPop®: I think maybe the first time we played you Rain On Me with the new bass line. Because you had come to the point where you're like, "The name of the album is Chromatica. I'm finishing it. I'm doing this, I'm doing that," and you were just fully geared up ready to go to Chromatica. Then we did this major change. We weren't sure if you were going to ... Because it was quite a big change and ... Lady Gaga: It was a huge change. BloodPop®: I just remember you playing it super loud and you're like, "That bass line. The bass line" That was a good day, and you and Ari cutting Rain On Me and you're like, "What if you tried this take with some dancing?" She was like, "Huh?" Lady Gaga: She was like, "Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Gaga, Gaga, Gaga. Oh my god, Gaga." BloodPop®: That was amazing too. Tune in to Apple Music on Friday, August 7 at 11am PT for the first episode of "Gaga Radio" at apple.co/_GagaRadio Related:
  22. Do you guys think Chromatica will age badly? Or do you think it’ll stay fresh? I love Chromatica, though Discuss
  23. After a couple of weeks of being MIA, Gaga returned with heaps of new Chromatica content. She announced Gaga Radio, might have a music video with Elton John in the works and shared a behind-the-scenes clip making the music video for "Rain On Me" alongside her pint-sized pop star peer, Ariana Grande. The hard work, the dedicated, the talent, the brilliance... This was super fun to watch. Exhale, is "Rain On Me" the gift that keeps on giving? The answer is yes.
