Elton John just scalped Janet Jackson.
Elton John still has a way with words.
Elton released his 32nd studio album Wonderful Crazy Night earlier this month, and though it didn’t see much chart success, he still knows how to flex his star power.
In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Elton mentions his past beef with Madonna when he blasted the Material Girl for lip-syncing in concert. At the time, he said “Madonna, best live act? **** off. Since when has lip-syncing been live? Sorry about that, but I think everyone who lip-syncs on stage in public when you pay like 75 quid to see them should be shot. Thank you very much. That’s me off her Christmas card list, but do I give a toss? No.”
Elton still has no tosses to give.
“I say what I feel,” Elton tells RS this week. “I probably went too far with Madonna, and I got very personal and I wrote her – she was very gracious.”
Not satisfied with remembering how some singers perform, he decides to rip Janet Jackson, who’s currently performing her Unbreakable World Tour, a new one. “You know, ******* music magazines writing a review of Janet Jackson saying, ‘This is the greatest show – four and a half stars.’ It’s ******* lip-synced! Hello! That’s not a show! I’d rather go and see a drag queen. **** off.”
