Drift Away With Ruth B’s “Lost Boy” Music Video

Ruth says the clip is inspired by Peter Pan because “in this day and age… kids are too eager to grow up so fast.”

Ruth B premiered her dreamy Peter Pan-inpired new music video for “Lost Boy.”

More than a year since its release, the Canadian singer-songwriter finally premiered a visual for her piano-ballad song “Lost Boy.”

In the Emil Nava-directed clip (Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris), Ruth plays the piano while surrounded by books, letters, umbrellas and dancers that are suspended in mid-air.

“The video is light and mystical and allows the lyrics to tell the story,” Ruth tells TeenVogue of its concept. “I’ve always loved the story of Peter Pan. I love the idea of a place where nobody grows up. I think it’s especially important in this day and age where I find kids are too eager to grow up so fast.”

The song, which was inspired by the TV show Once Upon A Time, came “very easily” to Ruth. “When I sat down to write it I wasn’t thinking ‘let me write a song.’ I just thought, ‘what would I want to do in Neverland? Who would l want to see in Neverland? What would I want to be told?’ I tried to keep it as real as I could.”
