Camila’s self-titled album is well on its way. The pop star wrote a letter to fans revealing why she decided to scrap the original title, The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving., for Camila.
“I can’t wait for you to hear what has been the soundtrack to the past year of my life… all of these songs have special memories behind them, and i’m not gonna lie, it feels emotional letting them go, feels like the end of a chapter,” she said. “this is where this chapter in my life ended. it started with somebody else’s story, it ended with me finding my way back to myself.”
Cam promised another double feature, and here we are. The first taste off Camila is a song titled “Real Friends.” It premiered today (Dec. 7). She also dropped a second tune titled “Never Be The Same,” which you can listen to here.
On “Real Friends,” Camila is searching for, you guessed it, real friends.
“Why do I even try? Give me a reason why / I thought that I could trust you… never mind,” she sings over a sugary acoustic guitar melody. “I’m just looking for some real friends / All they ever do is let me down / Every time I let somebody in / Then I find out what they’re all about / I’m just looking for some real friends / Wonder where they’re all hiding out / I’m just looking for some real friends / Gotta get up outta this town.”
