After dominating the summer, Diplo is releasing solo single “Set Me Free” for the fall.

The mega-producer has enlisted upcoming singer (and Mad Decent artist) LIZ’s talents for the vocals on the high-energy track.

Production considered, it’s Classic Diplo: stomping, trap-infused EDM filled with snares and huge bass drops. However, “Set Me Free” combines the usual brassy production with a more conventional pop song’s lyrics, and hooks aplenty.

Like most of his music, it was clearly built for the clubs but due to its pop sensibility “Set Me Free” could be Diplo’s first solo release to take over the mainstream scene.

Between Jack Ü and Major Lazer, he has been behind two of the year’s biggest singles with “Where Have Ü Been” and “Lean On” but it could soon be three.

Is “Set Me Free” too harsh for the mainstream?
