And could they be set to perform it at the VMAs?

Video of Niall Horan jamming to a mystery song surfaces.

Is One Direction’s new album right around the corner?

1D fans are getting excited because a new snapchat video features Niall jamming with their songwriter, Julian Bunetta, to a so far unrecognized track. New single, perhaps?

See for yourself:

Bunetta added possible fuel to the fire when he gave some Album 5 insight to a fan on Twitter earlier tonight:

As if that wasn’t enough, One Direction’s tour director Lee Lodge today posted these strange MTV promo pics of the band, as well as Miley’s commercials, on his Instagram account:

Lodge is a reliable source; throughout the band’s On The Road Again tour, he has posted images confirming whenever a new song will be added to the tour setlist. So, does this count as a confirmation of a VMA appearance, too? The awards show is a popular platform for artists to debut a song…

One Direction last showed up to the VMAs in 2013, where they won a few Moonmen, avoided Taylor Swift, chilled with Rihanna, Harry peeled an orange instead of watching Drake’s performance, the band were unceremoniously booed by the audience then immediately befriended by Lady Gaga afterward! They’ve performed only once at the ceremony so far, back in 2012.

In other 1D news, the band just celebrated their fifth anniversary together on the 23rd, Liam and Zayn are on talking (well, tweeting) terms again, and their current world tour topped Billboard’s Midyear Touring Report, earning a whopping $81 million already.

Do you think One Direction will perform at the VMAs this year?
