Did Ariana Grande Plagiarize Her New Video?

Uh oh!

An Australian band no one’s heard of has come out of the woodwork to accuse pop princess Ariana Grande of stealing her mid-apocalyptic plot, “One Last Time,” from one of their music videos. Awkward!

The videos do seem quite similar but, really, who hasn’t incorporated the end of times into their music and/or videos lately?

The director, Max Landis, went so far as to find another near-identical video in retaliation, as well as tweeting his thoughts about the accusation.

See for yourself after the jump!

The similarities get a little undeniable when you consider the colorization is identical and two of the videos end with a couple in a passionate embrace as the world ends around them.

The band, named SAFIA, took to Facebook to drag Grande to the depths of Hell for her alleged “crime” against independent art:

“Wouldn’t be the first time uncreative talentless f***s from big labels and/or big film firms steal ideas from small independent creatives who are trying really hard to make something different for a change.”

Don’t upset the hipsters!

Max Landis served fierce social media passive-aggression in response:

He even went so far as to say SAFIA were also not exactly originals when it came to their end of the world video plot:

Eventually, it seemed like the air was cleared between all parties involved…

BUT, Landis still had a few things to get off his chest:

No official word from Ariana yet but it’s safe to say she’s probably not happy being dogged by bad publicity so soon after dropping the video!

Do YOU think Ari may have copied SAFIA’s video?
