Nicki is out for blood.

Nicki is out for blood on David Guetta’s new song “Light My Body Up” featuring Lil Wayne.

At the start of the year, David Guetta teased he had a “huge” song with Nicki Minaj in the works, then faded into the background to continue tinkering around with it. Last week, the superstar producer unveiled the retro-murky cover art and announced the single drops this week, and here we are.

It’s great timing for Nicki. She recently teamed up with Weezy and Drake on “No Frauds,” then hit up Lil Wayne again on “Regret In Your Tears.” She also has new tracks with Jason Derulo and Ty Dolla $ign on “Swalla”, Nick Jonas on “Bom Bidi Bom” and another with Future. As for Nicki’s history with Guetta, their previous collabs include “Turn Me On,” “Where Them Girls At” and “Hey Mama,” all of which were top 20 hits on the Billboard 100 between 2011 and 2014.

“I just started my sentence like a capital letter,” Nicki purrs over Guetta’s slinky production. “I got bars for years I hope you send me a letter / No she’ll never be queen so now she got a vendetta / I ain’t talkin’ bout David when I say I’mma Guetta.” Wassup, Remy?

As for Wayne’s part, the rapper boasts about his sexual appetite. “Girl you know I brought that thing right up out the darkness / Made that thing a starfish / right up on my swordfish / I’m a bring sparks and your favorite marks.”

For me, Guetta’s last few songs have missed the mark, but “Light My Body Up” is a resurgence. The DJ didn’t look to the latest trends for his next sonic boom – he made them. The spiraling sounds flow in and out of both rapper’s fiery verses, but doesn’t overshadow them despite its eerie appearance. This one’s a hit.
