It’s lit, ma!
Is PC Music finally about to pop off?
The label’s brand of achingly-sweet-banger pop has been brushed off as a ‘fad’ and considered hit-or-miss by many, while they’ve slowly jumped from underground to the mainstream thanks to Charli XCX collaborations and the remixes of their very own Danny L Harle.
Danny L Harle’s work is probably the most chart-friendly of the bunch, as his work has been requested by some of pop’s biggest players like Years & Years, Tinashe, and MNEK.
The British producer made it to BBC Radio 1’s ‘A List’ with his single “Broken Flowers” in 2015 and went more mainstream than ever last year with an epic Carly Rae Jepsen collab, all of which sets up the success of his huge new single, “1UL.”
“1UL” – ‘One You Love’ – is a fully-fledged club banger, with a drop harder than anything the midtempo-only charts have seen in a while, but the lyrics and melodies of a proper pop song. It’s the magic of PC Music at its best.
“So touch my body / That’s what you want / But don’t touch my heart / As if I could ever be the one you love,” the infatuated mystery singer belts on the chorus.
“1UL” is the title track from his second EP, which drops next week on May 19.
