The stems (a group of audio sources mixed together to produce a song) for “Passenger” are making the rounds between underground music traders, and some of the files that make up the song are labelled “Myah Marie,” despite her receiving zero writing / recording credits on it.
In other words, there’s an alleged impostor on our precious Brit Brit music, causing a meltdown in the Brituverse.
One trader says:
“You can hear that some parts sound more of somebody impersonating her than her actual voice.
Some main vocals are drowned to the point where the background singer takes the lead place.”
BreatheHeavy can confirm some of the filenames do include Myah Marie’s name on it.
In fact, BH can also confirm she has file names included on “Alien,” “Brightest Morning Star” (Dr. Luke & Sia) and “Hold On Tight” (KoOoLkOjAk & A.C), yet has no credits in the album booklet. Whether someone re-named the files to “Myah Marie” and distributed them is unknown.
A label source denies the above claims, telling BreatheHeavy of the controversy:
“Bottom line: Myah was credited on the songs where her backing vocals were used… Period.”
Last year, Myah’s uncle told Star magazine: “Maybe Britney doesn’t know whose voice is on her album and it doesn’t even interest her. Maybe she comes in, lays down the track and laves, and doesn’t care.”
Myah denied the allegation exclusively to BreatheHeavy, saying:
“While I am so grateful for the opportunity to provide background vocals for Britney Spears on a small number of her most recent works, I most certainly cannot take credit for her tremendous talent as a singer. She is a veritable “living legend” with a longstanding reputation for excellence in all aspects of her artistry. She is my idol and I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for her.”
Myah’s latest response to the drama?
