Battle of the babes … Christina takes on Britney!

CHRISTINA AGUILERA is spoiling for a Dirrty chart scrap with her arch-rival BRITNEY SPEARS.

Christina has deliberately moved the release date of her next single Carwash so she can go head-to-head with Mrs Federline.

Her track will now be released on November 1 — not October 25 — the same day as Britney’s My Prerogative will hit shops.

Strangely, the pair are both releasing cover versions. Christina’s track — a collaboration with MISSY ELLIOT from the animated flick Shark Tale — was originally recorded by ROSE ROYCE in the Seventies.

Newlywed Britney’s tune was a Top Ten hit for BOBBY BROWN in 1988.

This is just the latest bout between the pop divas whose rivalry stretches all the way back to when they both appeared on American kids TV show the Mickey Mouse Club, alongside JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.

Britney has had two No1 hits this year while Christina is yet to hit the top spot in 2004.

Car Wash was the 19th most played song on radio last week, while My Prerogative was only the 36th. Thanks
