Charlie Puth Replaces Meghan Trainor With Wale On “Marvin Gaye”
Listen to the re-worked version of Puth’s latest Hot 100 debut.
Apparently’ Charlie Puth is not all about that bass.
His single “Marvin Gaye” featuring Meghan Trainor landed on the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 87 last week, but Puth is onto the next. Puth, who opens for the “All About That Bass” singer starting July 3 on her MTrain tour, adds Wale instead. He spits a couple verses towards the end, allowing Puth to shine further on his track than when it featured Trainor’s sometimes overpowering vocals.
“Meghan and I were at a party one night, and we were exchanging new music, and she heard ‘Marvin Gaye’ and asked, ‘Who else is singing on this? It should be a duet. Let me sing on it!’,” Puth recently told Billboard. “So I’m like … OK, Meghan Trainor just asked to sing on my song … absolutely! In one day, she knew the whole thing. We did it all in one take.”
So much for that! Take a listen to the remix below:
