Pop music’s bad girl, Charli XCX, and just all around bad girl, Bhad Bhabie, team up together on Clean Bandit’s new tune, “Playboy Style.”
Iggy Azalea is somewhere seething. The Australian rap princess’ most famous song featured Charli XCX, but Charli has jumped ship. She unites with Bhad Bhabie, the young teenage girl on Dr. Phil who famously said CASH ME OUTSIDE HOW BOW DAH, on a new Clean Bandit song titled “Playboy Style.”
Bhad Bhabie recently threw a drink on Iggy. You can read more about that here.
Drama aside, the song is pretty alright. Clean Bandit always know how to create a unique, sparkly beat. Charli’s vocals are less auto-tuned than usual, which is a refreshing change of pace.
“Fell in love with a bad, bad dude / Playboy style, shoulda’ seen right through,” Charli sings over sugary production. “All my friends, they could see the truth / You never loved me, you never loved me.”
Bhad Bhabie’s verse casts a shadow over “Playboy Style.” The 15-year-old, Diplo-backed rapper swoops in with a micro-verse about a guy not handing over the coin. “When you makin’ checks on checks, they chase you for that dollar bill,” she spits. “But where the f— was you, when all I had to eat was dollar meals?”
To be perfectly honest, “Playboy Style” didn’t need BB. However, I am curious to see how her career blossoms in 2019. Her craft is still in its infancy, but I anticipate more and more artists will enlist her, erm, talents… and that could result in someone who’s actually skilled at rapping. Right now it’s gonna be a no from me, dawg.
