“Me & U” re-entered iTunes.
Cassie is readying a comeback.
It’s been more than 10 years since Cassie’s slinky tune “Me & U” stormed the charts (it peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100), but the R&B singer is finally readying a return. We think.
She took to Instagram to celebrate the tune resurfacing into iTunes’ Top Songs chart. How you ask? It was featured in Diddy’s Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop: The Bad Boy Story documentary and received a a major push as one of the music retailer’s Hot Tracks.
“Over 10 years later!! I love my supporters!!,” she wrote on Instagram this week. Then revealed fans won’t have to wait long for new music. “I cannot wait for you to hear the new new! I’ve said it for years and I know I’m annoying af (LOL), but the timing wasn’t in my heart. Stay tuned…. this July feels good.”
THIS JULY, she said.
We hate to take her word for it, because she’s gotten our hopes up a couple of times over the years and failed to follow through.
At last year’s VMAs, she announced a new single titled “Make-Up,” but scrapped it. Then in February, Cassie previewed a Mario Winans-produced cut called “Glass Ceiling.” It sampled Tycho’s 2011 slinky song “A Walk,” yet that, too, never saw the light of day. But like she says, her heart wasn’t in it then. Cheers to finding the right time to release (THIS JULY).
How Sway?! Are they in our meetings? Did they hear the new CASSIE sound?!! Number 1 in the U.K. today?God works in the most mysterious of ways and when I tell you it's time I MEAN IT. Fourscore and 10 years later we got it.? #PrepareToBeMindBlown #JULYshallBe #HotLike?#WeGonnaTakeYou #Higher? #BackLikeWeNeverLeft
