Britney was scheduled to be interviewed by Carson Daly back in March, but after he found out Britney’s management wanted to edit the clips he refused to participate. He said via Twitter:

quote:

I was jst TOLD my @britneyspears interview tomm on @ampradio MUST b pre-recorded & submitted 4 approval by HER mgmt b4 it can air! F THAT!
Why won’t they let her do the interview live??? Regardless, looking forward to the taping! Even when I interviewed Michael Jackson, it wasn’t anything like this…it’s really insane. pre-recording it was NO prob- her mgmnt taking and editing the tapes overnight was the issue. thanks ken. I’ve known and supported her since she was 15. This has nothing to do w her. Just her ppl. jst shocked her mgmt won’t let her do a normal interview. She probly doesn’t even know.

Now Daly is opening up to Vanity Fair about the incident.

Vanity Fair: I have a huge respect for you after what happened recently with Britney Spears. Her publicists made some bizarre demands of you before they’d agree to an interview, and you responded on Twitter by saying, “F THAT!” In hindsight, do you have any regrets?
Carson Daly: Oh my God, no, not at all. I really do feel like I’m master of my domain now.

VF: In the Seinfeld sense?
CD: In the sense that I don’t need to be pushed around. Had that incident happened 5 or 10 years ago, I probably would have been shaking in my pants. Her fans jumped down my throat after I tweeted about her. I’ve never dealt with such a negative, hostile backlash. But I could care less. I know exactly what went down, and there’s no way in God’s green Earth that I’m going to surrender tapes of an interview to Britney’s management so they could edit it and then tell me when or if I could air it.

VF: We’ve all been there, brother. I could name names, McCarthy-style.
CD: I’m sure you could. It was so over the top ******* crazy that I wrote . . . well, you read it. I said, “**** that.” And I’d say it again if Britney Spears were on the phone right now. It’s just not going to happen. We’re in such a transparent age, yet nobody wants to be accountable for who the **** they really are. It’s crazy to me.

Sorry about the backlash; that was probably EXHALE.

Is he right? Wrong? Interested to see if he’d actually tell Britney “**** that” on the phone. I’m thinking not. What do YOU think?
