I hate that word “moist,” but it’s one-half the name of a Japanese shampoo brand Carly Rae Jepsen is promoting.
Carly Rae Jepsen released her ’80s-inspired transcending E•MO•TION album in Japan months before it became available in the states, and now they’re getting a second gift from the indie pop princess. She stars in the commercial for Moist Diane, a magical shampoo that will inspire your love life to play out in the best way possible.
The advert shows Jepsen as an inspired and unstoppable matchmaker, convincing a lonely girl on a bus to abruptly run out and tell the man of her dreams she really, really, really likes him. The product makes a brief appearance in airport security when Jepsen guides her stranger-friend through the terminal to meet Prince Charming.
If you’re asking yourself: ‘why am I watching this?’, the more appropriate question is ‘why are we only now just seeing this?’
Perhaps this was the original music video for “I Really Like You,” and re-purposed it in the name of shampoo.
