We made it!
Tinashe’s new album Joyride has arrived.
You guys, we made it! Tinashe has tried releasing Joyride for years, and one behind-the-scenes roadblock after another stopped her from doing that. For example, T revealed RCA forced her to release “Flame.”
In a new interview with Cosmopolitan, the “2 On” singer revealed she “cried for two days when they told me I had to put that song out as a single,” she said. “Dead-ass serious. They forced that 100 percent.”
That’s obviously very problematic, and it’s issues like that that resulted in Tinashe potentially missing an opportunity to achieve a chart-topper. She ultimately gave in. “Okay y’all, I’ll do what you want to do, but you have to work with me as well. And when that didn’t work, it was kind of like, All right, now it’s time to get with my plan.”
Tinashe’s new album features previously released singles, “No Drama” featuring Offset, “Me so Bad” featuring Ty Dolla $ign & French Montana and “Faded Love” featuring Future. Little Dragon is also featured on the album on a track titled “Stuck With Me.”
“I feel even more excited and confident in the album now than I was a year ago, even if a year ago I felt like I had the completed album,” Tinashe continued. “People tried to get me to change the title a lot… But when someone tells me that I can’t do something, I want to do it even more. Even when everything looks like it’s really falling apart,” she says. “I just come back so much stronger.”
