Britney Scores Movie Deal With ‘Once Upon a One More Time’

‘Once Upon a One More Time’ is heading to the silver screen.

This is refreshing: a report about Britney Spears that, for the most part, steers clear of the #FreeBritney movement, but not entirely… I’ll get to that in a moment.

According to Deadline, Britney’s Broadway-bound musical will get re-imagined for film. They claim Sony Pictures won an auction for screen rights to the movie adaptation of the upcoming stage production, premiering first in Chicago.

Read about the storyline of the play in our initial report.

Interesting, Britney is producing the film, along with her longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, under John Davis’ company Davis Entertainment. They’re comparing it to a musical-turned-movie to the ABBA jukebox hit Mamma Mia!

See what Exhale is saying about this.

“I’m so excited to have a musical with my songs — especially one that takes place in such a magical world filled with characters that I grew up on, who I love and adore,” Britney said in a previous statement about the Broadway show. “This is a dream come true for me!”

I mentioned the #FreeBritney movement because it’s the elephant in the room. While we don’t know what’s going on with the princess of pop right now, it’s worth noting that the conservatorship is in place because Britney is said to be unable to make decisions for herself, however Britney attended an initial reading of the Broadway show and gave her stamp of approval. She’s also producing the film version of this. It appears Britney was capable of making sound decisions in regards to this, which is a step in the right direction.
