Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea Talk About "Pretty Girls"

Britney and Iggy have chatted about their new collaboration “Pretty Girls” due on May 4.

USA Today have got a quote or two from the “Tom’s Diner” star Britney Spears about her forthcoming single and working with Iggy Azalea.

On working with Azalea, Spears says:

“I had called my manager [Larry ‘Albums Aren’t Important’ Rudolph] and had some ideas about doing a Valley girl-type video. It was really kind of funny, because I had just watched Clueless on TV, and was like, ‘It would be so fun to do something like that.’ Then I saw Iggy’s video [for “Fancy”], and I thought, ‘Oh my God, to work with her would be heaven sent.'”

It makes sense that Britney would be attracted to “Fancy” as the video (one of 2014’s best) features the kind of strong aesthetic and memorable setting that Brit is so known for. The article goes on to claim that the song was in the works for months and wrapped last fall.

When the pop duo finally met in person in January, Britney claims they, “just talked about a bunch of girl stuff.” Singing Iggy’s praises, Spears labels her, “a very down-to-earth girl and very, very sweet,” and goes on to reveal that Azalea, “introduced me to her dog, we had wonderful salad and it was just fun girl time.”

Iggy also dished about “Pretty Girls” which she calls “a classic, girly [song] you want to scream to each other when you’re getting ready.”

The “Black Widow” hitmaker also revealed some details about the video, which is set to drop on May 11. As well as confirming fans’ suspicions that it would be a parody of Geena Davis’ 1988 sci-fi cult hit ‘Earth Girls Are Easy’, Iggy spoke about Britney’s direction for the visual:

“What Britney made clear to me is that she really wanted to do a video where she got to dress up and play a character. That was really important to her. She just wanted to let loose and not necessarily feel like she’s playing Britney Spears.”

Britney also spoke about the video and its plot, revealing:

“I do a makeover for her and we go to a club. The best part about it was just us coming together with the clothes and doing the ’80s haircuts. We were all about being characters, so it was kind of funny for us. We weren’t taking ourselves so seriously.”

Sounds fun and cool to me.

“Pretty Girls” will drop on May 4 (which is only a week away!) and the video will follow a week later, ahead of the debut performance of the track at the Billboard Music Awards.
