Reports surfaced Britney’s held in personal and financial conservatorships because of severe medical issues that impair her better judgement.

Despite living with alleged mental illness, Britney wants out of the personal conservatorship because she feels she’s ready to handle her own affairs, according to the Daily Mail.

Britney met with Judge Reva Goetz last week, claiming she’s ready to take responsibility of her own life.

“Britney told Judge Reva Goetz in her chambers with her court appointed attorney, Sam Ingham present, that she is ready for the conservatorship to end,” a source close to Spears tells “Britney said she doesn’t understand why it’s still in place and expressed her belief that she has got to be the only person under a conservatorship that has managed to land a $15 million work contract. Britney wants the conservatorship to end, it’s fine with her if it stays in place as far as her business and professional life, but she wants to call the shots when it comes to her personal life. Britney pointed out to the judge that she will be on live television weekly this fall once X Factor premiers on Fox in September and the tremendous progress she has made since the conservatorship was put in place almost four years ago.”

Unfortunately, just because Britney says she’s ready, doesn’t mean a thing legally.

“Britney’s team of doctors just don’t feel that she is ready for the conservatorship to end. They have specific concerns related to her mental health and aren’t ready to tell the judge that Britney is ready to go it alone just yet. Judge Goetz is the only person that can end the conservatorship,” the insider says.

TMZ claims Britney “has a disorder affecting her personality that can affect her state of mind.”

Britney stated in 2008: “If I wasn’t under the restraints that I’m under right now, with all the lawyers and doctors and people analyzing me every day and all that kind of stuff … I’d feel so liberated, and feel like myself.”

Judge Goetz has scheduled another meeting with Britney which should take place in the next 60 days.
