Beyonce will perform her new song “Formation,” but will she and Coldplay sing “Hymn For The Weekend?”
Here’s what you need to know regarding Beyonce’s Super Bowl performance later today.
The moment a rumor claiming Beyonce was rehearsing a performance for the Super Bowl halftime show was the second Coldplay’s headlining duties were eclipsed. Let’s face it, Beyonce is the more hyped and talked about artist than her SB counterparts and/or Bruno Mars, who’s also confirmed to perform.
We speculated Bey and Coldplay would sing their new song “Hymn For The Weekend” off the group’s A Head Full Of Dreams album, but frontman Chris Martin shot the claim down at a recent press conference. “It only just came out, so I don’t think it would be quite right,” he said. “We love Beyoncé’s music. She’s one of our all-time favourites, and she’s one of the greatest performers I’ve ever witnessed.”
One song we do know for sure she’ll handle is the very recently released “Formation.” Sources confirm to ET she’ll sing the Mike WiLL Made It-produced single. Fans pieced together Beyonce would release a song titled “Formation” earlier this week after pictures from a storyboard with ideas for Beyonce’s possible arena tour was spotted leaving Parkwood Entertainment, Beyonce’s management company based in New York City. It featured song titles, including “Run The World (Girls),” “Speechless,” “Diva,” Irreplaceable,” “Me Myself & I” and… Formation.
