Beyonce Vows To Help Hometown Of Houston With Hurricane Harvey Relief
Beyonce pledges to “help as many as we can” following Hurricane Harvey’s devastation to Houston, Texas.
The pop star rarely releases statements to the press, but the Houston native wants to assure the fine people of Texas that she’s here for them.
“My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help,” she told Houston’s Chron.com.
“I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor (Rudy Rasmus at St. John’s in downtown Houston) to implement a plan to help as many as we can.”
As the site points out, BeyGOOD is the singer’s philanthropic effort that “partners with global charity organizations to get people employed and provide clothing, counseling, housing, food and medical assistance.” It launched in 2013.
On Tuesday, Brazoria County officials urged residents to “get out now” following news that a levee breached south of Houston. The flooding is expected to worsen this week. Read more about it on CNN.
