Drake’s new LP sold more than a million equivalent album units in its opening week.

Drake’s new album Views dethroned Beyonce and claims the top spot on the Billboard 200.

We saw this coming a mile away.

Early estimates predicted Drake’s latest LP would move 1.2 million units opening week, but the final tally from Billboard says the Toronto rapper sold 1.04 million equivalent album units which includes streaming in its opening week. 852,000 of that figure are pure album sales.

Still impressive.

The recent feat marks Drake’s sixth straight No. 1 album. It follows 2015’s What a Time To Be Alive with Future and If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, 2013’s Nothing Was the Same, 2012’s Take Care and Thank Me Later in 2010.

The last male artist to push a bigger opening week was Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience when it debuted with 968,000 copies sold 2013.

Elsewhere in the Top 5 are Beyonce’s Lemonade, which dropped to No. 2 with 196,000 copies. Prince’s Purple Rain soundtrack comes in at No. 3 with 75,000 units and The Very Best of Prince moves to No. 4 with 70,000 units. Rihanna’s ANTi sits tight at No. 5 with 51,000.

Drake’s song “One Dance” also topped the Hot 100 this week, his first solo No. 1 ever.

He also makes history on the Hot 100, as he places a record-breaking 20 titles on the chart at one time, the most that any act has charted on the ranking in one week ever, reports Billboard.
