Ariana Grande Has The No. 1 Album And Top Three Songs This Week

Ariana Grande’s new album tops the charts!

Ariana dropped her second album in five-and-a-half months with Thank U, Next, and it opened big.

According to Billboard, Ariana sold 360k in sales plus streaming. Of that sum, 116,000 were in album sales. TU,N also achieved the biggest streaming week for a pop album in over a year (the last being Taylor Swift’s Reputation).

UPDATE: Ariana also owns the Hot 100. “7 Rings” maintains its top spot at No. 1. “Break Up With Your Girlfriend” debuts at No. 2 and the album title track rebounds to No. 3. Ariana is the first artist to take the top three spots on the Hot 100 simultaneously since The Beatles in 1964.

All 12 songs on the album placed in the Hot 100, 11 of which make Billboard’s coveted top 40.

No. 1, “7 Rings”
No. 2, “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored”
No. 3, “Thank U, Next”
No. 14, “Needy”
No. 17, “NASA”
No. 21, “Imagine”
No. 22, “Bloodline”
No. 25, “Ghostin”
No. 26, “Fake Smile”
No. 27, “Bad Idea”
No. 38, “In My Head”
No. 48, “Make Up”

If your initial thoughts are that the pure album sales figure seems low, it’s worth mentioning Ariana stans typically consume music through streaming, so 116k in purchases is actually quite impressive. It’s also an incredible feat considering she didn’t package her album sales with a tour bundle – a tactic big labels employ in an effort to inflate sales.

On the first day TU,N became available, it racked up more than 68 million streams on Spotify in a single day. Ariana currently holds the record for the most streams by any artist in a single day on the platform with “7 Rings.” It’s currently No. 1 on iTunes’ Top Albums chart.

If you haven’t listened to TUN yet, give it a play below. My favs are the Holy Trinity: “bloodline,” “fake smile” and “bad idea.”
