Ariana Grande gives herself some space from the “toxic” Internet.

I can’t imagine what it’s like for a hyper-famous pop star in the digital age (low-key terrified).

Ariana could Tweet the word “poop” and it’d receive hundreds of thousands of likes and Re-Tweets and inspire countless ‘OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU SO MUCH QUEEN RESPOND TO ME IT’S MY BIRTHDAY PLZZZZ’ responses. I’m trying to make a point…

It’s unnerving, and that’s probably why she turned off the ability to comment on her Instagram posts today (that, and everyone has an opinion on her relationship with fiancé Pete Davidson and that dissonance is not jelling with her whirlwind romance).

Not only are we getting a more distant Ari right now, but less promo as well. The “God Is A Woman” singer says her strenuous promotional schedule in the past was too much to handle.

“It destroyed my mental health and was horrible for me,” she said. “i don’t remember anything ab those years of my life and am doing so much better now. career wise and health wise. stop coming for me and my team when i’ve never been better literally in any department. LITERALLY.”

It’s also worth mentioning Pete is leaving social media for the time-being (see his message at the bottom of this post).

I find it v v interesting she mentions not having the ability to remember much during that time. People of her status are few and far between, so it’s difficult to truly understand what that kind of fame does to the brain, but from what I’ve gathered ultra fame has the capacity to really unhinge a beautiful mind. Props to Ari for taking steps to protect her sanity.
