Ariana Grande Reportedly Playing The Witch In Broadway Musical ‘Wicked’

Ariana Grande could be taking Broadway by storm.

Ariana Grande could be taking Broadway by storm.

Ariana has reportedly landed a role of a lifetime. According to The Sun, the “Greedy” singer will play Elphaba the witch in Broadway’s hit show, Wicked.

A source tells them, “This is a huge feat for Ariana. The role of Elphaba is one of the most coveted parts to play on Broadway. Only a very select group of actresses have been chosen over its 13-year run and Ariana is in talks to take the gig. Bosses believe she’s got the acting talent to take it on and think it’s a bonus that her pop star appeal can pull in fresh audiences.”

During her 2017 stint on Carpool Karaoke: The Series with Seth MacFarlane, Ariana said she’d absolutely take the role if it was offered to her. “I was a huge theatre nerd my whole life, still am. It’s what I put on when I need to restore my soul and heal myself. It brings you back to home … One of my dream roles is to play Elphaba. I would do it tomorrow!”

It’s interesting timing. Ariana recently played her new Max Martin/Pharrell-produced album for Republic Records and manager Scooter Braun, leading fans to believe the Dangerous Woman followup was around the corner. Will she be able to promote the record, go on tour and star on Broadway? That remains to be seen, but if anyone can handle that amount of pressure, it’s Ari.
