UPDATE: The NFL denies offering Adele the Halftime Show performance slot.

UPDATE // AUGUST 15: In an interesting turn of events, the NFL is claiming they never offered Adele the Super Bowl halftime show slot, despite the 25 singer telling fans they did.

“The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele. We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else,” they wrote in a statement to Billboard. “We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time.”

So what is the truth?

Even Adele knew how misplaced a performance at the Super Bowl would be.

Most artists would leap at the opportunity to perform in front of hundreds of millions of people at one of the biggest televised events ever, but not Adele.

The NFL was reportedly eyeing the “Hello” singer as the 2017 halftime performer, and while Adele confirms the rumors were true… she rejected their offer.

“First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl,” Adele said at her latest 25 show. “I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don’t really- I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no.”

This leaves room for Britney Spears or JLo to hop in though.
