Lady Gaga and Angelina Jolie are reportedly going head to head to play the iconic role of Cleopatra.
Lady Gaga is owning the 2019 awards season, but she’s already got her sights set on the next big acting gig. According to a new report from OK! Magazine (so take this with a grain of salt. Hell, down the whole shaker), Gaga and Angelina Jolie are competing to play Cleopatra in an upcoming remake of the 1963 classic starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.
It’s worth mentioning the Tomb Raider actress has been eyeing this role for many years, but now that Gaga’s star power is at an all-time high, movie execs aren’t just handing it over to Jolie.
They have an ~insider~ claiming Gaga wants this badly.
Naturally, Twitter is outraged that an African American isn’t in talks to play Cleopatra.
I'm not sorry to tell y'all but @rihanna definitely has that role owned! Gaga and AJ shouldn't even been in the running. Honestly if a black woman ain't playing Cleopatra, then NOBODY should play the AFRICAN EGYPTIAN QUEEN CLEOPATRA! Who would you rather play Cleopatra? Choose wisely.— BreatheHeavy.com (@breatheheavycom) January 14, 2019
Lady Gaga is also rumored to be up for the part of Ursula in Disney’s remake of The Little Mermaid.
I hope Gaga is willing to make a soundtrack for the new movie that includes a cover of “Cleopatra Cominatcha” am I right?
