Watch how Adam Levine handles the, um, unfortunate incident.

Maroon 5 front-man Adam Levine has more than just his average performance on The Voice last night to worry about.

During their recent concert in Anaheim, Maroon 5 faced the full price of fame up-close and personal as a particularly enthusiastic member of the audience mobbed Adam Levine in the middle of their set.

@AdamLevine handles that like a pro! Thanks @leximendieta for finding!! #AdamLevine #stayoffstageidiot #thisisntthevoice #hopeyouenjoyedthecarpark

Levine clearly had absolutely no idea what to do about his encounter, but he played it all off particularly well, giving the poor child a hug before very firmly directing her towards security. I particularly enjoy his small wave as she’s escorted off the stage.

He addressed the crowd after the interrupted song, saying:

“It’s just weird to be, like, in the moment, you know? And you’re singing, and your eyes are closed, and you have this beautiful moment. And then the next thing you know someone’s f–king in your face. It’s super terrifying.”

We can only imagine, Adam.

So anyway, this feels like as good an opportunity as any to revisit my all-time favorite Circus Tour moment.

Lesson: people are quite literally the worst but Britney’s reaction to how dreadful the human race can be is quite literally the best.

How would you react if an unbalanced teenager threw themselves at you in your place of work?
