Zayn Malik could be releasing new music very soon.
Zayn's forthcoming album was rumored to drop in late 2017, but we're approaching the new year quickly and there's no sign of it. That's not to say it isn't still in the works.
A recent registry on music publishing website BMI says Zayn has a new song titled "Hurt." According to that, Malik co-wrote the track along with songwriting team Andrew Watt and Ali Tamposi. They're responsible for Camila Cabello's "Havana" and Selena Gomez's "Wolves." Songwriter Chloe Angelides also contributed. She helped craft Selena's "Fetish" and Demi Lovato's "You Don't Do It For Me Anymore" off Tell Me You Love Me. According to Oh No They Didn't, it could be produced by BURNS, who crafted Britney Spears' "Make Me."
A company that represents producers and songwriters named Linear Management allegedly Tweeted that engineer/mixer Beatriz Artola was working on "an upcoming release" by Zayn. Some of Artola's work includes Adele's '21,' A$AP Rocky's 'At Long Last A$AP,' and Ellie Goulding's 'Halcyon Days.'
That is a SERIOUSLY impressive list of collaborators for one song.
What else do we know? Mine of Mine producer Malay has worked on the singer's sophomore LP. “There’s a couple of songs on the record that I’ve done with Malay that for me, personally, I’m really proud of,” Zayn said this past summer. “Just in the sense that I feel like they’re real songs. And I don’t mean to say that to discredit the songs that are out on the charts at the moment. I just feel like there’s something really classic about some of the music that we’ve done together, and for that reason, I’m really proud of some of the songs that are going to come out. I feel like it really shows me as a songwriter and a vocalist.”
