Taylor Swift is getting back out there.
After a couple of whirlwind months dodging controversy in the media for her famous feuds with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Calvin Harris etc. etc., Swift is preparing to emerge as an artist again. She'll take the stage at the Formula One Grand Prix Post-Race show on October 23, her first major gig in nearly a year. She'll follow in Elton John's footsteps, who served as 2015's super star performance at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Swift fans hoped for months the F1 show would kickoff her next era, despite president and CEO of Big Machine Records Scott Borchetta confirming she is not releasing a new album any time soon, and a new video posted to Swift's Instagram shows the 1989 singer rehearsing to "Fifteen" off 2008's Fearless and "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" off 2012's Red. Looks like the show will incorporate her greatest hits.
Circuit of the Americas (COTA) president Bobby Epstein told The Guardian regarding Swift's upcoming headlining performance, “we had to make it financially irresistible to [Swift], but it is our fifth-year celebration and we have reason to celebrate and sometimes you spend a little bit on special occasions.”
He adds, “It will be a one-off show. Her only show in 2016. We think we can bring in 100,000 new people and put on the biggest show."
