Troye Sivan managed to make Alessia Cara's "Here" even more troublesome.
Sivan's currently promoting his latest Blue Neighbourhood single "Youth" with appearances and performances on Ellen, Spotify sessions and most recently a visit to the Big Apple where he performed on the Today show followed by a radio interview on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.
On why Sivan covered Cara's "Here," Troye said it was actually his second choice... his first being Rihanna's "Work." “I considered it for a very, very brief second,” he said. “And then I was like, ‘I am just way too white to be doing this.’ Like, it’s offensive, it’s genuinely offensive if I even try and sing this song. So I’m just gonna not do it.”
Sivan explains his recent "Youth" music video: “I find music videos incredibly stressful and scary…I think with the ‘Youth’ video I really just wanted to capture a vibe and a feeling and an emotion, rather than a storyline, and it was super important to me that we got that right,” he said. “We basically just threw a house party for some really, really cool people I follow on Instagram. I was literally just Instagram messaging people being like, ‘Hey, do you wanna come hang out at this house and be in my music video for the day?’ And we just had a really good time and I think it shows in the video.”
Troye also talks about having his dad on tour, his relationship with his fans and embarking on a world tour.
