Tori Kelly is having trouble processing the untimely death of her friend Christina Grimmie, so she's channeling her grief through song.
Last month, the world was left dumbfounded when a stalker fan walked up to Grimmie after her concert in Orlando, FL and shot her to death. It rocked the music community, including Tori Kelly, who wrote an original tune titled "Blink Of An Eye" to honor Grimmie.
"this song was written for christina grimmie after she passed away tragically," Kelly said in the song's description. "i needed to write this song. thank you to my good friend, zac poor, who was brave enough to take on the challenge of writing it with me. my heart was & is still so heavy when i think of her not being with us. however, i am still comforted knowing that i'll get to see her again someday in heaven. my prayers go out to her family & loved ones."
"You had so much life left," Kelly sings. "Can't help but to think it could have been me out there. Chasing a dream when suddenly it all stops."
In the video, Kelly strums a guitar in a dark room, keeping her eyes closed for most of it.
"even though this song had specific meaning, more recently i'm overwhelmed at the pain & the brokenness in the world today, & so this is really just me grieving," she continued. "at all of it. life is so short. thanks for listening, i love you guys."
