TLC’s Final Album Has Finally Arrived

It’s been a long... long time coming.

In January 2015, T-Boz and Chili of TLC set up a Kickstarter page with a goal of $150,000 to fund their fifth and final album. The duo opted out of label support, so their fans stepped in and helped the ladies reach their goal and then some. They ended up amassing $430,000, which included a $5,000 donation from Katy Perry. After two years of delays (hey, good music takes time), their last and final self-titled record has finally arrived.

They kick off the record with a bang. “We don’t need no introduction,” they say in the intro of their first album in 15 years.

The album is laced with nostalgia, referencing the prominent hip-hop era of the ‘90s, like on "Perfect Girls" A.K.A. "Unpretty" 2.0. They teamed up with Snoop Dogg on “Way Back,” and sample Bobby Hebb’s 1966 hit “Sunny,” as well as Earth Wind and Fire’s ’70s party banger, “September.” "It's Sunny" is a disco-tinged bop that comes out of left-field, but it's an infectious pop gem you'll find blasting the summer. Another highlight is the politically-charged track "American Gold."
