UPDATE // SEPTEMBER 30:
In a new interview with AMP 96.5, Tinashe clarifies she WILL include the album title track on her forthcoming LP Joyride. She didn't confirm or deny the rumors that Rihanna snatched up the song for herself, but said there were some "discrepancies." Nonetheless, the song will make the final cut (despite it leaking a few weeks ago, see below). As for when the record will drop, she hopes for October, saying "that's the goal."
EARLIER // SEPTEMBER 7:
Tinashe's latest song will take you on a Joyride.
The blossoming pop star is no stranger to her music prematurely hitting the net, nor is she unfamiliar with the dizzying release strategy her from her label, and the latest is a biggie. The brooding album title track for her record, Joyride, surfaced ahead of schedule, and it's a lowkey hip grinding banger.
It features Travis Scott, a pivotal player in Rihanna's ANTi record, and there's a rumor the "Love On The Brain" singer snatched up this song for herself. Alleged screen caps from Tinashe conversing with a fan via direct message on Twitter claims producer Hit Boy removed all of her vocals and passed it along to Rih.
Maybe Tinashe's cover of "Sex With Me" was a gesture in good faith to keep "Joyride," but her efforts amounted to nothing. Her version is out and there's nothing Rihanna can do about it.
Tinashe admitted in the past to leaking her own music to defy label strategy, and it is funny timing.
