Rising Swedish star Tove Lo is readying the next single from her debut album.
And very sensibly, she's chosen to go with the best song the record. It's a shame that doesn't happen more often, really.
Despite also being brilliant, second single "Talking Body" has failed to match the success of Tove's debut "Habits (Stay High)" so Tove Lo and team have decided to press ahead with the next cut from 'Queen of the Clouds'.
Check out 'Timebomb' below:
The track begins with a racing, frantic sprint towards one of the catchiest hooks on Tove's LP, featuring a vocal style similar to fellow-Swede Robyn, circa 2007. With a stunning percussive beat, bright acoustic riffs and strings galore, "Timebomb" offers a rich and uplifting sound.
Lyrically, the song details a doomed romance, a fatal relationship bound to end in mutually assured carnage. Self-destructive love affairs are hardly a new theme in pop music, but the way Tove deals with it is pretty unique. With her sharp and confronting lyricism ("I couldn't decide if you were the most annoying human being I'd ever met / Or just the best thing that ever happened") and superb knowledge of how to write a hook, "Timebomb" is an eccentric and remarkable take on a classic idea.
The song screams hit, but then again so did "Talking Body" and at last check, that track had stalled somewhere around number 50 on the Hot 100. As always, we'll have to wait to see if Tove's newest offering gets anywhere over on radio, but if there's any justice in the world, this'll be another smash for Max Martin's protégé.
According to the UK's The Mirror, Tove Lo was busy filming a racy video for 'Timebomb' earlier this week and if these images are anything to go by, at least the track will have an eye catching video to gather some press.
What do you think? Is "Timebomb" a hit waiting to happen, or will Tove shape up to be a one-hit wonder?
