This is equally hilarious and incredibly sad. Let us explain.
David Bowie's ex-wife Angela Bowie is currently filming the UK's Celebrity Big Brother which was in production when news broke of David Bowie's death on Sunday. She was informed while taping the show, but agreed to let the cameras continue rolling. “I haven’t seen him in so many years I can’t make a big drama about it,” she confessed moments after learning of the news. “But I feel an era has ended.”
Bowie decides to tell Tiffany "New York" Pollard (I Love New York) of the news in private, saying “David died,” but fails to clarify which David she's referring to. New York immediately assumes it's David Gest, ex-husband of Liza Minelli and fellow housemate. From there, everything goes awry.
New York is in disbelief. It “just happened,” Bowie continued.
Pollard's reality television experience kicks in, whaling and crying about it with her cast despite Bowie asking for New York's discretion.
Pollard is either an award winning actress, is genuinely stricken with grief, or both. When she's finally informed David Gest is alive and sleeping in the other room and Angela was referring to her ex-husband, Pollard's reaction isn't, 'OH THANK GOD. BUT HOLY SHIT THOUGH. DAVID BOWIE DIED?' Instead, she's consoled for mistaking the wrong person and Angie Bowie is left crying alone in the diary room.
