The Chainsmokers and Halsey will celebrate having the No. 1 song in the country with a performance at the VMAs.
When The Chainsmokers dropped "Selfie" a few years back, they probably couldn't fathom scoring a No. 1 song not too far down the road. Not only have the EDM duo accomplished that major feat (their song "Closer" knocked Sia's "Cheap Thrills" to No. 2. Freaking Sia!), but they'll get the golden opportunity to perform it at the MTV VMAs.
The network announced the news this morning.
Their video for "Don't Let Me Down" is also nominated this year for Best Electronic Video.
Britney Spears, Nick Jonas, Future, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Green Day and Rihanna are also confirmed performers as well. Alessia Cara, Jidenna and Lukas Graham snagged spots in the pre-show hosted by DJ Khaled.
In other words... this year's VMAs is a really big deal.
