Out early next year.
Camila Cabello has completed recording her first solo album.
But it's not been easy.
The singer's era hasn't gone according to plan. She threw a couple of songs at us to see what would stick. Surprisingly, the Sia-penned dance track, "Crying In The Club," underperformed. On paper, it should have scorched radio, but the seductive pop banger intro is tiresome. That opened the door for her Pharrell-produced track "Havana" to soar. The song has spent three weeks at No. 1 in the U.K. and peaked at No. 2 in the states. Bingo! It set the tone for the rest of the album.
Back to the drawing board she went.
The original album title, The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving., got the ax as well. Camila recently said she'd explain the name change in a letter to fans. That's still in the works, but one thing's for sure – the new direction – the album – it's finalized.
"My first album is done and the butterflies in my stomach are fully aware," she told fans on social media. As MTV UK points out, fans are wondering if she's going to call her album Butterfly. Mariah Carey teas.
It's not clear when the new record hits, but Camila mentioned some time "early next year," and I'm extremely intrigued to see what she's come up with.
