Tegan And Sara Premiere Starry Eyed “Hang On To The Night” Visual

Tegan And Sara’s new animated visual for “Hang On To The Night” deals with themes of overcoming anxiety.

If you’re feeling restless, Tegan And Sara’s music video for their latest synth-pop ballad will calm your nerves. The Quin sisters dropped a vibrant illustration video showing a valiant horse gathering creatures of the night and offering them to the sky, including two cats who fall in love together, and fade together.

The video’s director, Lisa Hanawalt, describes that scene as “sad but hopeful because you know the cycle will repeat itself the next night.”

Sara Quin tells Nylon “the song was a response to a number of sudden deaths in our family and my anxiety about mortality.”

There’s a “regenerative” quality to video’s theme. “If you can manage to hang on, you can face another day,” Sara added.
