News on the Taylor front has been quiet recently, but she's still the gift that keeps on giving.
As 25-year-old Swift wraps up one of the best years of her near decade long career, the Children's Book Council has announced the Wildest Dreams singer generously donated 25,000 books to various schools in New York City.
Twenty-five schools will each receive 1,000 new children’s books through the Scholastic Possible Fund as a result of Taylor’s support of the Company’s “Open a World of Possible,” initiative, designed to promote independent reading among all children. As a long-time literacy advocate, Taylor hosted a webcast for classrooms during which she shared how books, reading and writing have influenced her and opened her world. Since it first aired in October 2014, the webcast has been viewed by more than 4.5 million students from around the country and is available at: http://www.scholastic.com/taylorswift/
No stranger to working for causes close to her heart, the recent donation is just one in a very long list, including donating $100,000 to the Red Cross and even sending a fan $1989 to help pay off her school fees! The best part is Swift has courted no publicity whatsoever for her Scholastic donation.
Taylor is currently completing the Asian leg of her 1989 Tour, which wraps up in December.
