Miley Cyrus' voice is unmistakable, and it earned her an uncredited role in Marvel's upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2.
We'll have to wait a little longer for Miley's forthcoming Bangerz/Dead Petz followup, but here's something to look forward to: Miley will voice Mainframe in a post-credits scene. ScreenRant describes the character as "an alternate universe version of Vision from The Avengers who operates within the same fictive space as Peter Quill and company."
"I was admiring the tone of Miley Cyrus's voice," Gunn told BuzzFeed News of Miley. "I find her funny and likable and sweet. I liked that she cared about the contestants [on The Voice]. So I was like, 'I think she would be a funny person to have as a voice [in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2].' So we contacted her, and she said yes. She came in and recorded, and she was a delight to work with."
If audiences connect, there's potential for her character to shine: "She knows that there's a chance that character may go on and become a bigger thing," Gunn said. "That's a possibility."
"Listen, Mainframe is barely a character in the comics," Gunn added. "My concept of who Mainframe could be is actually pretty far out."
Gunn feels confident he can take Mainframe to unexplored heights. "I didn't know Mainframe from the comics, so I knew Miley Cyrus wouldn't."
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 debuts May 5.
