Charli XCX gave fans a taste of her new mixtape Number 1 Angel earlier this week when she premiered three of the songs on MistaJam's BBC Radio 1 show, including “Pull Up,” featuring MØ, “Dreamer,” featuring Raye and Starrah and “Lipgloss,” featuring CupcakKe. If that didn't quench your thirst, Charli is here to save the day. She released the seven remaining songs off the project free of charge.
"Everything's kind of half free now anyways with streaming and Spotify and Apple," Charli explains of her reasoning as to why she decided to give the mixtape away. "I don't buy a lot of records anymore. I feel like my fans... generally stream stuff. Also, my record was supposed to come out awhile ago. I know some of my fans were kind of upset about that – that I took more time to do it. I wanted to do this for them."
The mixtape is a response to her label troubles with Asylum Records, from which she launched her own imprint label named Vroom Vroom Recordings over a year ago. The British pop star previously revealed she's had an extremely hard time releasing her forthcoming album that has been "done" for some time. For now, this will do.
