Rising singer Stella Rio searches for love in her chilling visual for "Don't Go Away."
Stella's jazz-tinged new tune "Don't Go Away" is a bittersweet remembrance of the aftermath from newfound love. Produced by Grammy-nominated team Kuya, the song bird chirps a sullen soulfulness behind a delicate piano.
Stella took inspiration for the track from a romantic relationship. "It’s about meeting that special person and feeling that you’re connected on a deeper level and never wanting to let go," she tells BreatheHeavy. "I think most people can relate because everyone chases that kind of love."
In the music video, which premieres on BreatheHeavy today (Nov. 23), the 23-year-old Toronto artist finds herself meandering through a stark forest. At times she's smiling into the distance, yet there's a sadness to her gaze.
"I really love how the moody, pulse driving beat, in combination with the dark visuals come together to provide the perfect setting for a fairytale romance," she said. "I hope the song can make people happy. I hope people can listen to 'Don’t Go Away' and it can comfort them in some way."
She adds: "Music has the power to break barriers of all kinds and bring people together. That’s the kind of music I want to create."
The song is the first taste from her forthcoming EP in collaboration with Kuya. Stella also co-wrote songs off Little Mix's recently-released album Glory Days.
