UPDATE // MARCH 17:
Stargate released the music video for "Waterfall" featuring P!nk and Sia. In the clip, two women walk down a hallway and into an indoor skydiving chamber to perform choreographed maneuvers to the warbly beat. Sure, it's something... but with names like P!nk and Sia on the bill, it's distracting not seeing them. Or Stargate for that matter.
EARLIER // MARCH 9:
Stargate release their first solo tune with help from P!nk and Sia.
The Norwegian production and songwriting team, made up of Tor Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen, have lent their talents to some of music's most influential artists of our generation. They helped Beyonce top the Hot 100 for 10 weeks with "Irreplaceable," forged a string of hits for Rihanna ("Rude Boy", "Only Girl (In The World)", "What's My Name?" and "S&M"), Selena Gomez’s “Same Old Love” and co-produced Coldplay's A Head Full of Dreams LP. Now, the duo have embarked on a solo venture. They teamed up with Sia and P!nk for their first-ever release titled "Waterfall" via RCA Records. According to a press release via the label, Sia's relationship with Stargate began when they co-wrote “Diamonds” for Rihanna; it was her idea to bring P!nk on board, inspiring a vocal competition on the dancehall-infused new tune. Diplo and Jr. Blender co-wrote the track with Stargate and Sia.
"Oh, I'm in the jungle now," Pink sings over a tropical-tinged tribal beat. "You've been seeking, I've been hiding out / Use your love, it scares me so deep down." Sia chimes in, "I've lost control / I paddle, but you're too strong / But I gotta trust your flow / Cause boy, I'm in your waterfall."
It's a bit repetitive, but it's perfectly crafted for the radio to gobble it up and brainwash you into believing we've stumbled upon the song of the summer. Listen below:
