Sia Reveals ‘This Is Acting’ Cover Art and Release Date

Sia revealed the release date and cover art for her new album “This is Acting” through a series of Instagram posts earlier today.

The Australian singer’s 7th studio album will be released on January 29th, avoiding the crush of high-profile album releases happening in November. The cover art (above) does not deviate from what we’ve come to expect from Sia. It features a wig similar to the one on the cover of her previous album “1000 Forms of Fear” and of course does not showcase the famously camera-shy singer herself.

Sia talked about the album in an interview with NME back in February and revealed that the album is “much more pop” than her previous efforts. Sia is well-known for writing songs for some of the biggest stars in music, including Britney Spears, Beyonce and Rihanna. She explained how writing songs for others influenced the title of the album, saying: “I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go in thinking ‘this is something I would say’. It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”

Sia released the first single “Alive” last month, no word yet on when we will hear the second single off the new album.

The “Elastic Heart” singer achieved huge success with her previous album, spawning the incredibly popular single “Chandelier” for which she was nominated for 4 Grammy Awards, as well as numerous original and unforgettable music videos and live performances. What will this next era have in store?
