UPDATE: Sia released a gritty graffiti-filled lyric video for the song:
The original story was published on Sep. 24:
Sia shared her new single "Alive" a day early.
That's how confident she was with her latest release - originally announcing her new single would drop on Friday but last minute decided to release it today (Sep. 24) after teasing a bit of it on Wednesday.
The single was originally meant for Adele (who has co-writing credits on the song), but she rejected it and Sia refused to let it go down the drain. Instead, she's taking this, and other rejected songs from her peers, and throwing them on her upcoming album "This Is Acting."
“It’s about [her] life, so now I sing the song from [her] perspective,” Sia said recently about the song for Adele. “I have these songs made and they have [been] rejected, but [they] seemed… good, so I kept [them for] myself.”
As for her record, Sia said “I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go into it thinking, ‘This is something I would say.’ It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”
