Shawn Mendes’s ‘Illuminate’ Debuts At No. 1

Shawn Mendes’s future looks bright with his chart topping new album Illuminate.

The “Mercy” singer now has two No. 1 albums under his belt (his debut album Handwritten also secured the top spot), making him one of only five artists to have two No. 1 records by 18-years of age (the others being Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Hilary Duff and LeAnn Rimes.)

According to Billboard, Mendes sold 121,000 units and 145,000 sales plus streaming. That’s a considerable feat for anyone, especially considering the followup comes only a year-and-a-half after 2015’s Handwritten, which pulled in 119,000 units including streaming.

Also included in the Top 10 are Drake’s Views at No. 2, the Suicide Squad soundtrack at No. 3, Luke Bryan’s Farm Tour…Here’s To The Farmer at No. 4 and rounding out the top 5 is Bruce Springsteen.

1. Shawn Mendes – Illuminate

6. Travis Scott – Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight
